Finnvox Studios were built to meet a need. As the '60s revolution in popular music hit its stride, the record industry, in Finland as elsewhere, found that existing facilities were not prepared to cope with increasing demands and changing requirements. Thus it was that finnvox opened its doors in 1965 as the first dedicated and fully professional recording studio in Finland.

Quaintly, record industry circles ridiculed the first multitrack machine. .Our brand new Studer four-track was a regular laughing stock at the time,. recalls Ertesuo. "It was like, come on, nobody's ever going to use the thing, better cut your losses and get rid of it." - Of course, it wasn't long before "the thing" turned out to have been a rather sensible investment after all..
